Martin Scott Britt, P.S.M. - Owner/President/Surveyor & Mapper
Scott founded MSB Surveying, Inc. in 2000 and is the acting president. Scott is also a second-generation Surveyor and Mapper in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties. In 46 years of experience, Scott's expertise and project involvements have included: historical research, local knowledge, boundaries, topographics, hydrographics, mean high waters and tidal studies, riparian rights, route surveys, construction stake-outs, subdivision and condominium platting, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, and FEMA Elevation Certificates. Scott retains a highly skillful ability in surveying, leading him to a vast and knowledgeable database of experience. Therefore, he currently serves as an expert witness for boundary, mean high water, and riparian line disputes, for the betterment of the public. He is also an educator and teacher who covers various topics for general knowledge and certification classes locally and statewide.

Richard Abernathy - Signing Surveyor/Vice-President
Richard graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006 from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics. Since 1995, he has worked in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties. He is currently the Vice-President of MSB Surveying, Inc. and oversees CADD Technicians and Field Crews. Rich's expertise and project experiences extend to boundaries, topographies, coastal surveys, hydrographics, mean high water boundaries, riparian rights, route surveys, and creating land descriptions, TINS, and digital terrain models.

Sandra Britt Culpepper - Office Manager
Sandy is a second-generation of Surveyor & Mappers in the Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte County areas and offers over thirty years of experience in all phases of land surveying including field supervisor, drafting, Project Manager and Office Manager over the everyday business operations for over ten of those years. Sandy also is available for providing technical expertise during the development of site plans, building layouts, surveys including boundary, topographic, specific purpose, e-LOMA and FEMA Elevation Certificates.

Gene Wasson - Accounting
Gene earned his biology degree from Northern Illinois University (thanks to the GI Bill). His early career included roles as a property manager for Ramar Group Companies at The Landings and later as a broker and manager for a major national real estate firm. Since 2012, he has been with MSB Surveying, managing the full spectrum of financial and human resources functions, encompassing accounting, payroll, human resources, and receivables.

Mary O’Connor - Administrative Assistant
In May of 2022, Mary joined MSB, bringing superior and dedicated customer service abilities. She is enthusiastic and responsible, has outstanding interpersonal skills, and goes the extra "MSB" mile to ensure customer satisfaction, efficiency, and accuracy. Mary's 20+ years of learned skills run across multiple platforms, and her areas of expertise led her to win the 2012 Customer Service Award. Rick Gonzalez - CADD Technician
Mr. Gonzalez offers over three decades of experience in all phases of land surveying. He has been responsible for the on-site crew supervision for numerous residential and municipal projects throughout Southwest Florida. Mr. Gonzalez is responsible for providing technical expertise during the development of site plans, building layouts, and final surveys including boundary, topographic, hydrographic, as-built, construction stake-out, and specific purpose surveys. Mr. Gonzalez is fluent in English and Spanish.

Ryan Britt - CADD Technician, Field Technician, & IT
Ryan is a third-generation Surveyor and Mapper with over 10+ years of experience. He has worked in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties. Ryan has taken on CADD responsibilities in the last two years, helping MSB produce surveys in many areas, including but not limited to boundaries, topographics, hydrographics, construction stake-outs, mean high water, and tidal waters. Ryan attended Manatee Technical Institute for Network Support and Electronics, and he helps manage the office's IT needs.

Jan Ruggiero - GIS Manager
Jan graduated in 1993 from Southern College of Technology, which is also currently known as Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology. Jan also has furthering studies in Apparel-Textile Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Mathematics. She fully manages the Geographical Information System (GIS) for MSB Surveying which integrates the company’s workflow to improve productivity and growth. This further ensures competitive and reasonable advantages in today’s increasing digital world of surveying and keeps MSB at the top!

James (Josh) Copeland - Head Crew Chief, Field Supervisor/Proposal Estimator
Josh has over 24 years of experience in surveying in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. He supervises all incoming proposals and oversees the field crews. His expertise in specific areas of interest includes boundaries, hydrographics, and construction stake-outs for residential and municipal projects. Josh served in the military, US Marine Corps - Infantry, and for the last 18 years, he has enjoyed umpiring in the Sarasota and Manatee areas.

Scott Bispham - Crew Chief & CADD Technician
Scott has been a surveyor for 29+ years in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Although Scott loves being outside, Scott has been working as a CADD Technician for the past year. His area of expertise lies with residential and commercial construction stake-outs. Furthermore, Scott helps manage and support the field crews to ensure data accuracy.

Brett Oberdorf - Crew Chief
Brett has surveyed Sarasota and Manatee counties for the past 6 years. His area of expertise is in residential and commercial construction stake-outs. His past and current experience with Trimball, Carlson, Leica, and GPS Robotics gives Brett an upper hand in the field, ensuring the accuracy of his field crew's work. Brett is also a student pilot aspiring to become a commercial airline pilot in the future.

James Smith - Crew Chief
James has surveyed Sarasota and Manatee counties for the past 13 years. He has diverse survey fieldwork in residential construction, boundaries, and locations. His current and past experience with TopCon, Base Rover, Trimball, and GPS Robotics allows James to fully manage what each job requires in the field with his crew.

David Knight - Crew Chief
David has been a second-generation Surveyor and Mapper in the Sarasota and Manatee counties for most of his life. He attended SCTI and is certified in Marine Mechanics and Diesel Mechanics. He has extensive experience in commercial construction stake-outs. David has primarily used Base Rover and GPS Robotics to collect data, allowing him to lead his crew in the field and take on various complicated projects.
